CYRIS AND ISOLDE AT O’SULLIVANS BAR BASTILLE
Requirement
O’Sullivans Bar Bastille, the latest addition to the O’Sullivans group in Paris, required a high-quality, flexible audio system to support its dual-purpose operation.
Blending the appeal of a chic Parisian brasserie and a welcoming Irish pub, the venue has a distinctive interior design featuring an iconic two-story drinks display at its centre. On Friday and Saturday nights, the space transforms into a dynamic nightlife destination with a dancefloor, DJ sets, and live music performances.
The key requirements for the audio solution included:
- Excellent audio quality for background music during regular hours.
- Sufficient power to handle high-energy weekend performances without requiring additional PA rentals.
- Discreet integration to complement the venue’s elegant design.
- Intuitive control for staff to easily manage audio settings across different areas.
Solution
To meet these challenges, O’Sullivans enlisted consultant Aurelian D., who designed a custom audio system installed by Benjamin Gouilly-Frossard of Aquila Event, with support from Audiofocus distributor Sequoia Audio.
The solution included:
- 16 x Audiofocus Cyris CX6 six-inch coaxial loudspeakers mounted discreetly on walls and ceilings across both levels.
- 8 x Audiofocus C210S low-profile subwoofers, cleverly concealed within custom-designed seating and furniture to provide low-frequency reinforcement without impacting aesthetics.
- 4 x Audiofocus Isolde AP108ix speakers mounted on the ceiling to deliver extra power in the dancefloor area.
- Powersoft Ottocanali and Quattrocanali multi-channel amplifiers.
- Q-SYS system with custom-programmed touchscreens, enabling the O’Sullivans Bastille team to easily adjust audio settings.
Results
The completed system successfully delivers:
- Even coverage throughout the venue, maintaining clarity for both background and high-energy music.
- Flexibility to handle DJ and live music performances without requiring additional sound reinforcement.
- Discreet appearance thanks to the thoughtful integration of speakers and subwoofers into the venue’s design.
- User-friendly operation, allowing staff to manage the system efficiently without technical expertise.
